10 Most Hated NFL Teams: The American Football Teams We Love to Hate

Who are the most hated teams in the NFL? These teams dominate the list of the biggest NFL rivalries because they either keep on winning, cheat, or because we’ve been born to hate them.

These teams are hated because fans have built up a reputation for being arrogant, loud or obnoxious, and the worst people. Here’s the top ten most hated teams in football that bring out the worst in us:

10. Las Vegas Raiders

When the Raiders moved from Oakland to Las Vegas in 2020 an entire fanbase was thrown into disarray and many fans instantly despised the team they once knew. There are still a dedicated and delusional minority of fans making the trip from Oakland to Las Vegas.

The Raiders were already one of the most hated NFL teams even before their move to Las Vegas as Raiders fans have built a bad reputation for their aggressiveness. It could be the unhinged outfits and costumes that the Raiders faithful wear.

9. New Orleans Saints

From 2009 to 2012 the Saints placed bounties on opposition players to injure them in what’s known as “Bountygate”. Naturally, it’s enough for rival fans to hate the Saints especially after winning Super Bowl XLIV in 2010.

Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints? Bountygate aside, the Saints chant alone is enough to make them one of the most hated NFL teams.

8. Washington Commanders

The Commanders have massive rivalries with the Eagles and Cowboys so they’ve got many enemies, including former owner Dan Snyder who had no clue how to run the franchise successfully.

Northwest Stadium is falling apart, and Washington fans hate the Commanders name. There’s not much good coming out of D.C.

7. Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears have been historically mediocre in the draft. Remember they drafted Mitchell Trubisky instead of Patrick Mahomes in 2017?

Their lone Super Bowl victory in 1985 has also left Bears fans frustrated and hating their own team. Bears fans will also tell you there’s a hate agenda from the national media against them.

6. Green Bay Packers

The Packers play out of the smallest market in America but make up for it as one of the most hated NFL teams. Perhaps it’s envy for the “Cheeseheads” and getting all the Prime Time slots.

Maybe it’s all the media attention, the favoritism from refs, or all the bandwagon fans that draws all the haters. I hate how they’ve been blessed with back-to-back Hall of Fame quarterbacks in Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

5. Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia has a reputation for obnoxious sports fans and Eagles fans are no different. Is it just passion? Highly debatable.

Remember when Michael Irvin’s career ended with an injury and Eagles fans cheered as he got stretchered off? That alone has propelled the Eagles into one of the most hated NFL teams.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers

When the Pittsburgh steel industry collapsed in the 1980s, Steelers fans spread throughout America. That’s why Pittsburgh fans are heavily supported at away games.

That’s reason enough to be the envy of every other team and why they’re so hated. And those “Terrible Towels” are oh-so annoying.

3. New England Patriots

A record six Super Bowls is plenty of reason to become one of the most hated NFL teams. Add to that the whole Deflategate and Spygate and you can see why they’re so despised.

Tom Brady and Bill Belichick created a dynasty through their 18-season partnership which brought on a wave of bandwagon supporters and even more reason to hate the Patriots.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

What’s the perfect recipe to create hate? Drafting a superstar quarterback and becoming the envy of the rest of the league.

The Chiefs drafted Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 draft, changing the fortunes of the franchise forever. Oh, and the whole Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift deals head doing.

1. Dallas Cowboys

This is “America’s Team” and supposedly the most popular NFL team. The Cowboys are also the most hated as opposition fans envy at how Jerry Jones has turned the franchise into the biggest through arrogance alone.

The Cowboys also play out of one of the best NFL stadiums and they get all the good Prime Time games. This is a team with an ego to match their owner, and is the envy of all NFL fans.
